Chapter Fifteen

THANKFUL

I was in awe as I slipped out on the balcony and gazed at the city of Winter Crest. It was gorgeous. It reminded me of something off television. The city was so clean, and the air was so fresh. It was breathtaking. The city’s Christmas decorations looked so good, they almost looked fake. I had no idea something this beautiful was so close to me. It was a chilly night in Winter Crest, and the snow made the city look fictitious. Back in the projects, when it snowed the dirt mixed with everything else on the ground making the snow look like black ice. That’s how dirty it was. This city was in a different caliber. It screamed wealthy.

I was staying at the Elixar Hotel, Resort & Spa, which looked like a castle inside and out. I was on the top floor in a penthouse suite. I was sitting outside on the balcony in a white plush robe that made me feel like royalty. The room set up was amazing. They had Christmas decorations with a tree already decorated. Dash was going crazy when we first walked in. Earlier, when Infamous, I learned his name after he picked us up, let me know that I wasn’t going back to my aunt’s house. He told me I could stay here as long as I needed to. That he had it covered. I thought it was going to be like a Motel 6 or something. I never expected anything like this. Hell, I didn’t know extravagant hotels like this existed.

He ended up taking us to breakfast, and I was amazed at how good he interacted with Dash. My baby clung to him like he had been knowing him for years. After breakfast, he took us to the store to pick up all of the necessities that we needed since I wasn't going back to my aunt’s house. We ended up going to a Christmas light show. We wore my baby out. He was running around looking at all the different Christmas lights. They had a big firepit where you could make smores, and they had hot chocolate. They had so much food that I literally tried everything there. I was like a kid in the candy store. I was just as tired as Dash, but I couldn’t tear my eyes away from this view. I sat outside with a cup of tea, with so many thoughts going through my mind. The main one being how did I even get here. Infamous never told me how he found me today and kept finding me before that. Secondly, what the fuck did he want with me. I knew he lived close, because he told me once we got settled that if I needed anything to give him a call. He said he lived less than ten minutes away. As I pondered in my thoughts, I wanted to call my mama and grandma so bad. I don’t see why my aunt would lie to me.
